Programs receive a Provisional Rating of 1-5 Stars before the Active Rating is issued. The Provisional Rating is based on the points they earned from their Standards Inventory.
A Provisional Rating of 3-5 Stars leads to completion of an Environment Rating Scale (ERS) assessment from QUALITYstarsNY’s independent observation team. For these programs, the average score of the ERS observation(s) is combined with their Provisional Rating points to calculate the program’s Active Rating.
