When you earn your Provisional Rating, you have 28 days to request an appeal if you believe points were awarded incorrectly. Before submitting an appeal, we strongly encourage you to contact your Quality Improvement Specialist (QI Specialist) first to review your concerns.
Please note when considering submitting an appeal:
- You can only appeal scores for Standards you originally attempted when you submitted your Standard Inventory.
- You cannot appeal scores for Standards included in your Qualifications & Experience Report. This includes all Standards that are scored based on information verified in the Aspire Registry related to staff training, education, qualifications, and experience.
To submit an appeal, follow these steps in the data system:
1. Log in on qualitystarsny.org.
2. On your QUALITYstarsNY Participation Page, click the three dots to the right of your program and select "View QUALITYstarsNY Profile".
3. Click “Request Appeal” button on the right side of your QUALITYstarsNY Profile.
4. Click “Review” to the right of the section that contains the indicator you want to appeal.
5. Once you have located the Standard you want to appeal, click to check off the “Appeal this indicator” checkbox
6. Enter your Reason for Appeal in the text box
7. Once you have appeal all the indicators you want in that section, click “Save”
8. A pop-up appears to inform you that your appeal was successfully saved and if you would like to continue working in the section, click “No” unless you would like to submit another appeal.
9. Repeat the process for any additional Standards in other sections that you want to appeal.
10. Once you have selected all the Standards you want to appeal, click “Submit Appeal” at the bottom of the page.
11. A pop-up appears to confirm you are ready to submit your appeal, click “Submit”
12. Another pop-up appears to inform you that you successfully submitted your appeal, click “OK”
You have now successfully appealed to indicators. You will receive notification once the appeal decision is completed, and it will be communicated via the Notes Section of your Standards Inventory.
